High Fructose Gel provides 55 g of carbohydrates and 250 mg of sodium per gel from maltodextrin and fructose, in a ratio of 10:8.
This formulation is based on "multitransportable carbohydrates", and it has been shown based on studies* that, during prolonged exercise, the consumption of carbohydrates absorbed in the intestine by different transporters is the only way to increase the assimilation rate and oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates above 60 g/hour *
To achieve this, research confirms that the ideal is to combine sources of carbohydrates. We chose Maltodextrin, to control molecular weight/osmolarity, and the other component must be Fructose.
MALTODEXTRIN:
It is absorbed in the intestine by the SLGT-1 transporter and converted into glucose, to reach the cells and provide them with energy quickly.
It has a high glycemic index, providing a rapid increase in blood glucose and instant energy release.
Fast gastric emptying, thanks to its high molecular weight and low osmolarity, favoring digestion and reducing gastrointestinal side effects.
FRUCTOSE:
It is absorbed in the intestine through GLUT5 transporters, different from those that absorb other carbohydrates; The absorbed fructose travels from the intestine to the liver via GLUT2 transporters and fills the liver's glycogen reserves that are lost during intense physical exercise.
There is a gradual absorption with constant and progressive energy release.
It is for this reason that the combination of maltodextrin and fructose allows you to digest and assimilate a high amount of carbohydrates per hour, minimizing the risk of suffering gastric disorders.
